The Pittsburgh Steelers interviewed a potential quarterback draft choice from Arkansas on Monday. They’ve also apparently expressed some level of interest in a cornerback from Florida.
The Penguins are early favorites over the Flyers in their first-round playoff series. And another member of the McConnell family may be heading to Indiana to play basketball.
All that in “First Call” for Tuesday.
Green visits Black and Gold
Via College2Pro.com, we told you two weeks ago that quarterback Taylen Green of Arkansas was going to visit the Steelers. The NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports that the visit occurred on Monday, after stops in Baltimore and Dallas.
Former Arkansas QB Taylen Green is visiting the Steelers today, per source.

Green popped at the NFL Scouting Combine. He posted a 4.36 40-yard dash, a 43.5 vertical jump and a broad jump of 11-feet, 2 inches.
He is the sixth-rated quarterback on the board at ESPN.com, No. 152 overall. That’s down 53 spots and one QB slot (behind Penn State’s Drew Allar) from when we wrote about him two weeks ago. Green completed 60.7% of his passes last year, tossing 19 touchdowns against 11 interceptions, taking 27 sacks along the way. The 23-year-old also ran for 777 yards and eight more scores.
The fifth-year senior was at Boise State for three years before transferring to Arkansas in 2024.
More about Moore
During our NFL Draft preview on Friday, former pro and college scout Matt Williamson said that he was getting the impression that the Steelers were done at cornerback.
But at some point, they apparently showed at least a little bit of interest in Florida’s Devin Moore. Moore told Justin Melo of SI.com that he’s had at least one predraft meeting with the Steelers.
“I met with the Detroit Lions, Indianapolis Colts, Dallas Cowboys, Las Vegas Raiders, Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers, to name a few,” Moore said. “Some of those were at the NFL Combine, others were in-person visits.”
If those meetings were at the combine, that means it was before the Steelers threw a lot of capital at the secondary by bringing in the likes of Jamel Dean, Jaquan Brisker and Darnell Savage. They also kept Asante Samuel in free agency.
But Moore is still intriguing. He is 6-foot-3, 198 pounds. Scouts Inc. describes him as a capable blitzer and a good tackler with solid ball skills (five career interceptions), but perhaps lacking top-end speed (4.5 seconds in the 40-yard dash).
Moore is the 15th-rated cornerback on ESPN.com’s board and the 119th player overall. The fourth-year senior also mentioned the Los Angeles Chargers and Atlanta Falcons as teams that showed interest. That included a top-30 visit in Atlanta.
Odds are out
The Philadelphia Flyers clinched the Eastern Conference’s final playoff spot Monday night thanks to a 3-2 shootout win over Carolina.

That sewed up third-place in the Metropolitan Division, which means Philly will play the Pittsburgh Penguins in the first round of the NHL playoffs.
Now that we know all eight teams in the Eastern Conference postseason field, Stanley Cup odds are out for each club. Courtesy of BetMGM, the Penguins are at plus-1100 to win the conference. That’s sixth among teams in the East, with the Flyers coming in at seventh at plus-2000.
The Bruins are the longest shot on the board to get to the Cup final at plus-2200, with Carolina as the slight conference favorite at plus-200, narrowly in front of the Tampa Bay Lightning at plus-230.
The Penguins are a plus-2200 bet to win the Stanley Cup. Philadelphia is down the line at plus-6000.
DraftKings has the Penguins as a minus-175 favorite in the series. The Flyers are plus-145 underdogs. The Penguins collected two regulation wins over Philly this year and dropped two shootout contests. However, FanDuel has the odds much closer. The Flyers are at minus-105 and the Pens at minus-114.
I got a Fever!
It looks like the McConnell kids may be reunited in Indiana.
The WNBA’s Indiana Fever has signed former Duquesne star Meg McConnell to a training camp contract. The standout guard from Chartiers Valley just wrapped up a season in Australia’s WNBL. She averaged 11.2 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game with the Bendigo Spirit.
Megan McConnell, sister of Pacers guard T.J. McConnell, has signed a training camp contract with the Indiana Fever, the team announced.

McConnell’s older brother, T.J., is in his seventh season with the Indiana Pacers, and his 11th overall in the NBA.
In 2025, McConnell also had a training camp invitation from the WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury. After initially being let go, the Mercury eventually signed her back to a contract in June. However, within her first 13 minutes of game action, McConnell suffered a tibial plateau fracture.
In Indianapolis, McConnell will be on the same team with league superstar Caitlin Clark.
