The Westmoreland County Land Bank is donating a property to Jeannette that could be used for future expansion of its public works garage.

City council last week approved the donation of the land on North Fourth Street that shares a border with the public works property.

The land bank acquired the property during an August free and clear judicial sale, according to records filed with Westmoreland County. It was not sold in a tax sale in 2007.

Jeannette manager Ethan Keedy said city officials requested the land bank step in and acquire the property on their behalf. The land bank paid $1,900 for it, according to county records.

The vacant land has trees and other vegetation on it. Keedy said some of the vegetation could be cleared and it will offer the possibility to expand buildings or add more space in the future.
