Authorities in Texas have released body camera footage of former Gettysburg Mayor Chad-Alan Carr’s April 8 arrest in Texas on child sex charges.

The footage was released by the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office in Texas, which was serving a warrant on behalf of the Adams County Sheriff’s Office after new charges were filed against Carr while he was out on bail.

The video can be watched here:

Carr was first charged with photographing or filming a child performing a sex act in March, but he was released on $100,000 bail. Then, on April 8, he was c harged with two counts of sexual assault and related offenses. A warrant was issued that afternoon, and he was arrested in Texas, where Carr is originally from.

Carr’s first charges came after police say he exchanged sexually explicit messages and photos with a teenage boy in 2011-2013, when Carr was the executive director of the Gettysburg Community Theater.

About a week after the charges were first filed, a woman called state police and said Carr sexually assaulted her son in October 2015, when her son was a teenager. Two other victims were mentioned in the court documents filed in April.

Carr was the executive director of the Gettysburg Community Theater from 2009 until his resignation in March. He was elected mayor of Gettysburg in the fall of 2025 and r esigned from that position in March, just before the initial charges were filed.

State police are asking anyone with information related to the investigations into Carr to call the Gettysburg barracks at 717-334-8111 or the state police tip line at 800-472-8477.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday told PennLive they could not release information on whether Carr was awaiting extradition for “officer safety” reasons, without elaborating.
