For the third straight year, a Fox Chapel duo claimed a WPIAL Section 3-3A boys tennis section doubles title Tuesday.
For Frank Siegel, it’s his second straight section doubles crown as he and partner Grant Fenton defeated Thomas Luther and Brendan Huang of Shady Side Academy, 6-2, 6-4, in section finals.
Kiran Tevar and Sam Kamin of Shady Side defeated Fox Chapel’s Rocco Didomenico and Harrison Soose, 6-3, 6-0, in the third-place match. The top four duos advance to the WPIAL tournament.
Section 2-2A – Defending WPIAL champs Jonah Jasek and Steven Duing of South Park claimed their second straight section title and third in four years as a pairing by dispatching Jonah Camardese and Trey Varga of Montour, 6-1, 6-2, in the finals. Duing was the other half of an Eagles doubles championship in 2024. In the third-place match, Grant Goodman and Matthew DeAndrea of South Park beat Keystone Oaks’ Randen Eury and Beckett Wargo, 6-2, 6-3.
Section 1-3A – Gateway’s Logan Memije will look to capture his third section doubles championship as he and partner Troy Boden will face off against Colin Stalnaker and Sanshiro Ogawa of Franklin Regional in the title match. Memije and Boden defeated Prem Nadesan and Arnesh Paura of Franklin Regional, 6-2, 6-0, in the semifinal round while Stalnaker and Ogawa breezed by Latrobe’s Grant Gardiner and Eli McKeever, 6-1, 6-1.
Section 2-3A – North Allegheny looks to keep its string of section doubles championships alive as Shivum Telang and Ronit Gindes defeated Ben Terrell and Finn Wentz of Sewickley Academy, 10-8, in the quarterfinals and will face off against Ryan Moore and Arav Amin of Pine-Richland in the semifinals. The other Tigers duo, Ashwin Sudhakar and Matt Kampi, defeated Liam Schley and Kylan Meiers of Seneca Valley, 10-1, in the quarterfinal round and will play Cal Johnson and Jaxon Hittle of Mars in the other semifinal match.
Section 4-3A – Luca Ritovoi and Noah Klaber of Mt. Lebanon defeated Bethel Park’s Gavin Hughes and Caden Smith, 6-1, 6-0, in the semifinals and will take on Carter Lichtman and Myles Owens of Upper St. Clair, who beat Harshal Pallerla and Ani Garimella of South Fayette, 6-4, 6-1, in the other semifinal match. For Ritovoi, it’s his second straight trip to the title match. He was part of the Blue Devils’ championship pair last year.
Section 1-2A – It will be an all-Winchester-Thurston final as pairings Ravi Stanger with Soham Maiti and Syed Najih Haider with Bodhan Hula will square off for the title. Greensburg Salem duo Silas Morris and Tommy Shrum will square off against Michael Dubetsky and Evan Riffer of Indiana in the third-place match.
Section 4-2A – Central Valley’s Cody Clayton and Hunter Hazelwood defeated Mike Lanigan and Will Brown of Blackhawk, 6-2, 6-1, in the semifinals and will take on Sean Perez and Aiden Desanzo of Beaver, who bested Ben Crefeld and Max Sprinker of Blackhawk, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1. Clayton and Hazelwood are looking to win back-to-back section titles. Lanigan and Brown will face off against Crefeld and Sprinker in the third-place match.
