Midweek sees a three-team chase in Section 2-5A district softball heat up with either some separation or a tighter logjam ahead.

A big week for Kiski Area (10-2) continues as the Cavaliers visit first-place Penn-Trafford (9-2).

The Cavaliers are coming off a big win Monday over visiting Armstrong, 5-2, that dropped the River Hawks into a tie for second place with Kiski Area.

Currently, the Warriors are 6-1, one game up in the loss column over both the Cavaliers and River Hawks who are each 7-2 in section play.

Both teams are on a roll with Penn-Trafford having won eight straight and Kiski Area winning its last five in a row.

In fact, the last time the Cavs lost was when they hosted the Warriors on March 30.

It took only five innings for Penn-Trafford to mercy rule Kiski Area, 13-3.

Also on Wednesday, Armstrong (7-4) begins a six-game home stand as it hosts fourth-place Latrobe (6-4, 4-3).
