Beaver County Transit officials plan to install cameras at stop after racist graffiti
After discovering racist graffiti at least twice at a bus shelter in Ambridge, Beaver County Transit Authority says it’s working to install surveillance cameras at the bus stop, according to TribLive news partner WTAE.
A local rider, Maiya Cobb, told WTAE that she had seen swastikas, racial slurs and violent messages written at the stop near the Ambridge Borough Building and Ambridge Area Senior High School.
The new surveillance camera system should be installed by the end of the year, BCTA General Manager Mary Jo Morandini told WTAE.
“We’re appalled by it, obviously,” she told WTAE. “I’m appalled that anybody would even think to damage our property, let alone write such language. It’s appalling.”
