Cameras could be installed at five parks in Jeannette this summer.
City officials are seeking bids for the installation of 12 cameras that will provide police with a direct link to the goings on at the parks.
“We’ve had some vandalism in the parks,” said city manager Ethan Keedy.
A request for proposals calls for two cameras each at parks in the following locations: Agnew, Altman, Arlington and Third Street. Four cameras are set to be installed at the West Jeannette park.
Police already have a network of similar cameras around town and can access them from the station. The cameras will be funded through 2023 Community Development Block Grant money, Keedy said.
“This is something that we really need to be completed for the parks and playgrounds before summer starts,” said Mayor Michelle Langdon.
Bids for the cameras are due at 10 a.m. April 22.
