Traffic was temporarily diverted from East Sixth Avenue in Tarentum on Wednesday while crews from the borough’s electric company replaced a traffic signal at the foot of the Tarentum Bridge.
The light was damaged last month after being hit by a truck, borough officials said.
The light had been missing since that time, and traffic patterns for those turning right off the bridge onto East Sixth Avenue were affected.
The new light means the right-turn signal that previously had been in place to keep traffic moving in the bridge’s right lane will return.
A “No turn on red” sign had been in place in the absence of the traffic signal, causing traffic backups on the bridge during daily rush hours.
