Amid the extensive NFL Draft planning process, 412 Food Rescue has been planning an event of its own — utilizing uneaten food from the draft to host a dinner.

412 Food Rescue said it’s coordinating with event organizers to collect good food that’s uneaten and transport it to nonprofits serving Pittsburgh communities to ensure none goes to waste.

Called “Fourth & Feast: From the Field to the Table,” the event, which includes a rolling meal and fireside chat, will be invite-only and take place at 3 p.m. April 26 at the Good Food Project in the Food and Energy Hub in Millvale.

412 Food Rescue said the meal will be created with the rescued food from the NFL Draft. It will also be family-style. A Steelers legend will help as well, according to the nonprofit, which hasn’t yet announced who it will be.

The fireside chat will feature Alyssa Cholodofsky, CEO of 412 Food Rescue, a representative of Visit Pittsburgh and Lilith co-owner and local chef Jamilka Borges. The chat will focus on the impact of Pittsburgh sports teams on sustainability and food insecurity in the region.

“As a homegrown organization powered by volunteers and partners across Pittsburgh, we’re deeply proud of our community,” Cholodofsky said. “We’re ready to undertake this major food recovery project with them and excited to celebrate together afterward.”

Previously, 412 Food Rescue has acquired uneaten food from other large events like the Billie Eilish and Machine Gun Kelly concerts.

“Come April, as millions have their eyes on the NFL picks, the 412 Food Rescue team and thousands of regular Pittsburghers will be working hard behind the scenes, ensuring the safe transport of extra food from the draft days at Acrisure Stadium … as well as other official draft events,” the nonprofit said in its announcement.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, 412 Food Rescue put up a picture of food operations behind the scenes at Acrisure Stadium.

“Pittsburgh doesn’t just host big moments. We show up for them,” the post reads.
