The WPIAL announced its board of directors for the 2026-27 school year during its monthly board meeting Wednesday.
The top 10 senior high representative candidates and a junior high representative who received the highest vote total in a ballot sent to all WPIAL schools were selected to serve.
Returning members include Hampton atheltic director Michael Gavlik, Bethel Park athletic director Laura Grimm, Peters Township athletic director Mark Elphinstone, Norwin athletic director Michael Burrell, Brentwood principal Jason Olexa, Carlynton athletic director Nathan Milsom, and Winchester Thurston athletic director John Rosa, as well as junior high representative Tom Evans, the Hempfield events coordinator.
Newly-elected board members include Southmoreland athletic director Brian Pritts, Connellsville athletic director Richard Evans and Seton LaSalle athletic director Kenny Klase. They replace Alan Alcalde of Moon, who did not reapply; Brian Geyer of Peters Township, who was recently hired as WPIAL assistant executive director; and retiring John Grogan of Mt. Lebanon.
In other WPIAL board meeting news:
• 103 WPIAL schools will get a percentage of $127,643 of district postseason revenue earned in calendar year 2025.
• An eligibility hearing was held for three student-athletes transferring from Union to New Castle.
Swayzee Reighert, Armontae Booker and Cooper Whitmore were all ruled eligible by the WPIAL to play for the Red Hurricanes.
