A Westmoreland County man was arrested Thursday by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and an indictment against him was unsealed, according to court records.

James William Martin Jr., 43, was taken into custody in the Greensburg area, according to Bradford Arick, public affairs specialist with FBI Pittsburgh. U.S. Attorney’s Office in Pittsburgh public affairs officer Mike Rick said Martin lives in Greensburg. Property records show James William Martin Jr. owns a home on Kingsbrooke Drive in Unity.

He is charged in a federal grand jury indictment with advertising and attempted advertising of visual depictions of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct, distribution and attempted distribution of visual depictions of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct and accessing with intent to view material depicting the sexual exploitation of a minor.

Authorities said the alleged incident happened between April 2022 and August 2024.

They are seeking the forfeiture of several electronic devices, including multiple computers, according to court records.

Martin had an initial appearance in federal court in Pittsburgh Thursday afternoon. He remains in federal custody.

Prosecutors are asking that Martin be detained pending trial. A detention hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, records show.
