Ryder Fetterolf, a native of Sewickley, won the Jim Rutherford Trophy as the top goaltender of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) for the 2025-26 season.

In his first campaign with the Ottawa 67’s, Fetterolf appeared in 41 games during the regular season and posted a 29-9-3 record, a 2.07 goals-against average, a .923 save percentage and a franchise record six shutouts.

In the postseason, Fetterolf has guided the 67s to the second round, where they currently trail the Barrie Colts, 3-1, through the first four games of the series. In eight playoff games, Fetterolf has a 5-3 record, a 3.04 goals-against average and a .902 save percentage.

The left-catching Fetterolf is a candidate to be selected in the upcoming NHL Draft. On Thursday, the NHL’s Central Scouting registry ranked him 11th in their listings of North American goaltenders.

“I’m obviously hoping to get drafted and see where I go,” Fetterolf said in February. “But all I can do right now is outwork everyone in front of me and just keep playing my game, stick to what I do and go far with my team in the playoffs.”

A product of the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite youth program, Fetterolf (6-feet, 186 pounds) is committed to Penn State for the 2026-27 season.

The Jim Rutherford Trophy is named in honor of the former Penguins general manager and goaltender, who was a star at the junior level with the former Hamilton Red Wings franchise.

The last American to win the trophy was former Penguins goaltender Alex Nedeljkovic in 2013-14 as a member of the former Plymouth Whalers franchise. Michael Houser, a native of Youngstown, Ohio, who grew up in Wexford, claimed the trophy in 2011-12 while skating for the London Knights.
