Jhonny Severino
Position: 3B
Height: 6-2
Weight: 185
Level: High-A Greensboro
Notable: The Greensboro Grasshoppers scored eight runs in the sixth inning against the Brooklyn Cyclones on Wednesday. Slugging infielder Jhonny Severino provided half that production by belting a grand slam over the left-field fence and out of the ballpark.
The 21-year-old third baseman went 3 for 6 with a double as Greensboro improved to 8-3.
Severino has been a catalyst for the early-season success. This season, he is batting .289 with two home runs and 11 RBIs, along with three stolen bases through 10 games.
The Pirates’ No. 12-ranked prospect is in his first season at High-A Greensboro after he slashed .215/.277/.359/.636 with 11 homers and 49 RBIs at Low-A Bradenton last season.
Severino was part of the Brewers 2022 international signing class out of the Dominican Republic. The Pirates acquired him at the trade deadline in 2023 when they sent first baseman Carlos Santana to Milwaukee.
He played mostly in the Florida Complex League in 2024 outside of a month in Low-A Bradenton. He showed his power potential last season and has kept up the trend so far in 2026.
