Police in Pittsburgh and Allegheny County say eight people were shot, two fatally, in at least three separate incidents in Saturday’s early hours.

Braddock

The first shooting, in Braddock, was reported just after 2 a.m. That was followed by a shooting just before 2:30 a.m. in Pittsburgh’s Bedford Dwellings neighborhood and one just before 4:30 a.m. in Homewood West.

In Braddock, first responders found a woman dead and two women shot in the 800 block of Braddock Avenue, according to Allegheny County Police. The two women were taken to hospitals in critical condition.

The Allegheny County Medical Examiner identified the deceased woman as Quinn Venay, 26, of Braddock.

County police said their preliminary investigation found a small group of people were gathered on the sidewalk outside of 800 Braddock Ave., near the Club Elegance nightclub and lounge, when an unknown person began shooting at them from across the street.

Bedford Dwellings

In Pittsburgh’s Bedford Dwellings, police were notified about a shot being fired in the 2500 block of Chauncey Drive. A man was found unresponsive in a courtyard and taken to a hospital, where he died a short time later, Pittsburgh Public Safety said.

One man detained for questioning in that incident had a minor graze wound to the left side of his face and was treated at the scene.

Police said a third man arrived at a hospital in a private vehicle with a gunshot wound to a leg. According to police, he told officers he had been hit by a bullet in the 2400 block of Webster Avenue, but officers could not find a crime scene there. Police said it was unclear if the two incidents were connected.

An investigation is ongoing.

Homewood West

Officers found two men shot in the 700 block of North Dallas Avenue after responding to a shooting in Homewood West.

Two men had each sustained gunshot wounds to their abdomens and lower extremities, police said. One was found outside and the other inside an establishment, which police did not identify. They were taken to hospital in critical condition.

Police said there were no suspects or arrests.
