Delaney Schumaker swept the hurdles to lead South Fayette to the girls team title and the Golden Tornado dominated the relays to win the boys team race at the Butler Invitational on Saturday.

For the Lions, Angela Zeng won the 1,600 and the 3,200 relay team also took first place.

Moon’s Rachel Stepp was a double winner, taking the 200 and 400. Anna Lazzara won the 100 and led the North Catholic 400 relay team to a first-place finish.

Southmoreland’s Megan Mehall won the 800, Shady Side Academy’s Charlotte Baker took the 3,200 and Mt. Lebanon won the 1,600 relay.

In the field, WPIAL winners were Franklin Regional’s Jamie Kociela in the high jump, Winchester Thurston’s DaShae Cochran in the long jump, North Allegheny’s Audrey Maxwell in the discus, Shaler’s Jayla Antomachi in the javelin and Laurel’s Alexis Geiwitz in the shot put.

For the boys, Butler won the 400, 1,600 and 3,200 relays with Isaac Miller, Carter Ekas and Landon Slear running on two winning teams.

Shady Side Academy’s Javon Johnston was a double winner, sweeping the long and triple jumps.

Other WPIAL winners were West Allegheny’s Jonathan Newton in the 400, Quaker Valley’s Jonah Montagnese in the 3,200, Canon-McMillan’s Aaron Taylor in the 300 hurdles, Franklin Regional’s Sean Cartwright in the high jump and Seneca Valley’s Andrew Mejia in the javelin.

Softball

Deer Lakes 2, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart 0 – Laney Dineff threw a complete-game two-hit shutout with four strikeouts to lead Deer Lakes (6-7) to a nonsection win. Natalia Lisotto singled and drove in a run and Gracie Spagnolo had two hits and scored a run for the Lancers. Mya Eshenbaugh tripled for the Chargers (5-4).

Baseball

Kiski School 7, River Valley 1; Kiski School 7, River Valley 0 – Kiski School (4-2) swept a doubleheader from River Valley (2-10).

In Game 1, Cy Zufall threw a complete game, allowing one unearned run and striking out a school-record 15 batters. Zufall went 2 for 2 with a triple and two RBIs, Brian Yu doubled and knocked in two and Tyler Hahn had two hits and an RBI. Zeke Doak went 3 for 4 with a double for River Valley.

In Game 2, Fielding Strauss and Parker Hannah combined on a one-hit shutout and Faust tripled and drove in three runs for Kiski School. Devin Steeves had the lone hit for River Valley.

Mapletown 6, Turkeyfoot Valley 4 – Chase Vanata struck out 16 and allowed three hits and one earned run in six innings to lead Mapletown (2-10) to the nonsection win over Turkeyfoot Valley. Vanata also doubled three times in four at bats and drove in a run, scored twice and stole three bases. Colton McKnight added two RBIs in the win.

Flag football

Latrobe 56, Greensburg Central Catholic 0 – Natalia Scekeres threw three touchdown passes, ran for a score and returned an interception for a TD to lead Latrobe to a Section 3 win. Morgan Maiers, Brianna Harvilla and Haley Marucco had TD catches, Mya Wisniewski scored on the ground and Lindley Saylor had a pick-six for the Wildcats.
