Goaltender Sergei Murashov made 27 saves for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins who closed out the regular season with an 8-0 shutout of the Rochester Americans at Mohegan Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Saturday.
The result was Murashov’s fourth shutout of the season and improved his record to 29-9-4.
Forwards Rutger McGroarty had two goals and an assist for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (46-17-7-2) while forward Rafael Harvey Pinard contributed two goals.
Highlights:
Having secured a bye in the first round of the Calder Cup playoffs, the Penguins will face an opponent that has yet to be determined in the division semifinal round. Dates for those contests are yet to be determined as well.
Goaltender Gabriel D’Aigle made 44 saves on 48 shots for the Wheeling Nailers in their regular season finale, a 4-3 loss to the Indy Fuel at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling.
The result dropped D’Aigle’s record to 1-2-0.
Forwards Brayden Edwards, Mike Posma and Zach Urdahl all scored goals for Wheeling (46-20-3-3).
Highlights:
The Nailers will face the Reading Royals in the first round of the Kelly Cup playoffs. A schedule has yet to be announced.
