Work that was scheduled to start Monday on Bell Avenue, a well-traveled road in West Leechburg, has been postponed.

According to Kayla Visnovsky, West Leechburg Borough Secretary and treasurer, People’s Gas conducted gas line repair work on Bell Avenue and surrounding streets last fall. She said that while there was some patching done after that work, the gas company is discussing restoration efforts which might include paving the street.

“Right now, everything is pretty much on hold,” Visnovsky said.

Crews initially were scheduled to begin excavating sections of the road between South Avenue and West Leechburg Hill Road to prepare for future paving. A letter sent to residents notified them of intermittent parking restrictions on the street for the month the work was supposed to last.

Visnovsky said there was no active work being done on the street as of Monday afternoon. Once the borough has coordinated with People’s Gas, the work plan will be updated, she said.
