Saint Vincent men’s volleyball snagged three major postseason awards in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference.
Sophomore libero Jackson Genicola (Norwin) was named defensive player of the year, freshman Jack Ryan was tabbed newcomer of the year and Bearcats’ leader Kate McCauley was awarded coach of the year.
Genicola, who moved from setter to libero this season, averaged 3.44 digs per set, the top average in the PAC and the sixth-best mark in Division III. He had 210 digs in 19 games, including a conference-high 24 against Grove City.
Ryan led the conference with 9.69 assists per set and helped SVC hit .228 with 11.94 kills per set. Both marks were second in the PAC.
He had 139 digs and 37 blocks and recorded four double-doubles and had a 51-assist match.
As for McCauley, the fifth-year coach won the AMCC Coach of the Year award in 2024. SVC finished this season 14-5 and was 10-2 in the PAC.
The Bearcats won 14 straight games at midseason.
Genicola also made the all-conference first team, along with teammates Shawn McSwiggen, a senior right-side hitter, and senior outside hitter Zebediah Wyant.
Freshman middle blocker Braeden Artman and junior middle hitter Rocco Marino were honorable mention picks.

Men’s volleyball
Chatham: Junior right-side hitter Tim McCabe (Norwin) was named to the All-PAC first team.
McCabe led the conference with a program-record 3.97 kills per set.
Geneva: Junior outside hitter Owen Kelley (Hempfield) was named to the All-PAC second team.
He led the team with 278 kills, the third-highest total in the conference. He became the program’s all-time leader in kills and has 886 going into his senior season. He added 184 digs, 35 blocks and 21 aces.
Penn State Behrend: Senior setter Luke Mumpower (Norwin) was named to the All-AMCC Second Team. Mumpower was second in the conference in assists with 667 and was seventh in digs (1.93) going into the ECAC playoffs.
Grove City: Junior right-side hitter Carson Good (Penn-Trafford) was named to the All-PAC second team.
Good led the Wolverines in kills (210), kills per set (2.26) and had 55 blocks in his first season as a full-time starter.
Junior middle blocker Andrew Kessler (Penn-Trafford) made the honorable mention list.

IUP: Former Franklin Regional head coach Lance Getsy is joining Paul Tortorella’s staff as a tight ends coach.
Getsy coached Franklin Regional for five years, guiding the Panthers to four WPIAL playoff appearances. He also was the head coach at Charleroi for two years.
He played tight end at Slippery Rock.
“Becoming a member of this historic program under coach Tortorella, working with a top-tier coaching staff and having the opportunity to coach student-athletes at this university is an exciting time for my family and me,” Getsy said in a news release.

Softball
Bloomsburg: Junior Josie Straigis (Latrobe) was named the PSAC East Athlete of the Week. In six games, she had 10 hits, including four home runs, two doubles and a triple, six RBIs and six runs.
She was hitting .327 with seven home runs and 21 RBIs for the Huskies.
She doubled and homered in a 6-2 loss to Kutztown.
Straigis also pitches and was 7-7 with a 5.50 ERA, 40 K’s and 37 walks in 85 1/3 innings.
Cal (Pa.): Sophomore Amarah McCutcheon (Southmoreland) went 2 for 4 with a home run and four RBIs as the Vulcans fell to Gannon, 9-6, in the PSAC.
Geneva: Senior pitcher McKenzie Rapp (Penn-Trafford) set the program record for career saves with her 16th as Geneva beat Allegheny, 5-2, to earn a split in a PAC doubleheader.
Rapp is 9-3 this season with a 1.81 ERA, 42 strikeouts and nine walks. For her career, she is 38-15 with a 2.66 ERA in 96 appearances.
IUP: Junior Bri Pusateri (Penn-Trafford) is leading the Crimson Hawks with a .388 batting average in 41 games, including 40 starts. She has seven doubles, a triple and 29 RBIs.
Four other local players are also contributing to the lineup: senior Maddie Griffin (Ligonier Valley) is hitting .292 with 28 runs scored, freshman Cam Ponko (Penn-Trafford) has a .262 average with seven RBIs in 18 games, sophomore Erin Drotos has nine runs in 17 games and freshman Bella Rubbe (Penn-Trafford) has appeared in four games.
Pitt-Greensburg: Junior Hunter Taylor doubled, homered and drove in two runs, junior Kenzie Lang added two hits, including a homer, and junior Sadie Kelly went 3 for 3 with an RBI as the Bobcats defeated Alfred State, 9-1.
Freshman Falynn Reinard added two hits for UPG.
Robert Morris: Add another record to the resume of redshirt senior Courtney Poulich (Mt. Pleasant).
The star slugger broke her own single-season record for RBIs with her 54th — she had six RBIs in a doubleheader split with Akron — and was up to 129 career RBIs, 119 hits, 117 runs and 40 home runs.
She hit a three-run homer in the Colonials’ 27-7 win over Akron, which set a team record for runs in a game.
She added a three-run blast in an 11-7 win over IU Indy. She had five RBIs in the game.
Poulich was named the Horizon League Player of the Week for the second time this season and fourth time in her career.
She went 12 for 19 in five games with four homers, two doubles and a triple.
Saint Vincent: The Bearcats earned a split with Chatham with an extra-inning rally.
Sophomore Taylor Williams ran in with the winning win on an RBI single by sophomore Eva Farone as SVC walked off a 3-2 victory in the 11th.
Freshman Emily Dudenhoeffer went 3 for 5 with a double and two runs, and junior Alyssa Henderson had two hits.
Freshman Mya McHugh (Latrobe) pitched five scoreless innings of relief, allowing one hit and one walk to earn the win.
Sophomore Josey Michalski (Norwin) went 2 for 3 with a double and two runs, and Henderson and sophomore Abby Bauer had two RBIs each in a 7-3 win over Bethany.
Seton Hill: Sophomore Shelby Telegdy earned a five-inning win and helped her cause with two hits, including a double, in an 11-2 win over Edinboro.
Redshirt junior Kassidy Wittig and freshman Danielle Terpack had two hits each, with Terpack driving in three for the Griffins.
They run-ruled Edinboro in the second game, 15-6 in five innings, as junior Lacey Lynn and Wittig homered and drove in four each.
The Griffins (21-18, 14-6) have had an up-and-down season. They have a seven-game losing streak, a nine-game winning streak, a five-game losing streak and have now won four in a row.
South Florida: Freshman Toryn Fulton (Franklin Regional) has been a mainstay in right field for the Bulls, starting 44 games and leading the team with a .339 batting average and .571 slugging percentage. She had six home runs and two triples, 27 RBIs and 25 runs.
Washington & Jefferson: Senior shortstop Hannah Allen (Penn-Trafford) had two hits and two RBIs in a 5-2 win over Thiel.
Waynesburg: Freshman pitcher Morgan Walt (Hempfield) delivered her fifth complete game of the season and improved to 6-0, allowing three earned runs with no walks in a 5-3 win over Thiel.
Junior Brynn Charnesky (Southmoreland) and freshman Lorryn Sepe (Penn-Trafford) drove in a run each as the Yellow Jackets defeated Hiram, 5-3.
Westminster: Sophomore ace Cheyenne Piper (Ligonier Valley) was named the PAC Pitcher of the Week. She tossed back-to-back one-hitters, striking out 13 in a 13-0, five-inning win over Franciscan.
She retired the first 14 batters, 10 via strikeout, and did not allow a walk as she moved to 11-3.
Freshman Kylie Anthony (Penn-Trafford) had an RBI triple and finished 2 for 2 with two RBIs.
Westminster won the second game 14-3 in five innings as Anthony added her fifth triple of the season, scored twice and stole a base.
Another sweep followed, with wins of 2-0 and 7-1 against Allegheny. Piper fired her PAC-leading fifth shutout, striking out nine and scattering four hits, and Anthony had an RBI triple in the first game. She was 2 for 3 with a triple and a run in Game 2.

Grove City: Junior left fielder Dan Luko (Franklin Regional) had an RBI double and scored three runs as the Wolverines defated Franciscan, 14-8, to split a doubleheader.
Mercyhurst: Grad student Jayden Walker (Norwin) had an RBI double and drew two walks as the Lakers defeated Maryland Eastern Shore, 6-5.
Walker is hitting .259 with a team-high nine doubles and 31 runs to go with 25 RBIs.
Pitt-Greensburg: Junior Josh Preston went 2 for 4 with a double, and freshmen Ryan Lambeth and Gavin Corbett had two hits apiece as the Bobcats held back Bethany, 5-4.
Saint Vincent: The Bearcats played their longest game of the season, edging Thiel, 12-11, in 14 innings.
SVC trailed 10-6 going into the bottom of the ninth but scored four times to tie it. Junior Jacob Auld (Norwin) hit a three-run homer, and a bases-loaded walk made it 10-10.
Sophomore Armani LaRusso ripped a walk-off single in the 14th for the win.
The Bearcats won the second game of the twinbill, 14-4, in 5 2/3 innings (darkness).
Sophomore Isiah Petty went 4 for 4 with two RBIs, senior T.J. Bucy homered and junior Reid Rachwal had two hits, two RBIs and two runs in the win.
Seton Hill: Senior Colin Ahr went 3 for 3 with a double, junior Jakob Haynes (Penn-Trafford) drove in two runs and sophomore Brady McGuire was 2 for 3 with two runs as No. 11 Seton Hill topped Cal (Pa.), 6-2.
Sophomore Sean Williams (8-1) earned the win, allowing two earned runs in six innings in his first appearance since his no-hitter.
Ahr recently reached 100 career hits, and Haynes and junior Owen Henne hit the 100-RBI mark.
Westminster: Sophomore Brandon Roher (Penn-Trafford) pitched 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief as Westminster defeated La Roche, 10-3.

Saint Vincent: Senior Jonathan Nagy scored his 100th career goal as the Bearcats took down Hiram, 26-4.
Sophomore Calvin Rose was named the PAC Specialist of the Week. Rose was 27 for 38 on face-offs over two games and added seven goals, two assists and 19 ground balls.
Seton Hill: Senior Kaden Granberg scored four goals, senior Nate Herbster added three and senior Carter Green (Penn-Trafford) finished with two scores and an assist as the Griffins (13-2, 9-0) beat Davenport, 12-6.
Seton Hill, the GMAC regular-season champion, has won eight in a row.
Westminster: Freshman Jerome Murray (Norwin) had three caused turnovers and two ground balls as the Titans trounced Thiel, 27-0, in a PAC matchup.

Westminster: Grad student Gino Piraino (Franklin Regional) finished fourth in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 18.43 seconds and was fifth in the 400 hurdles in 1:08.20 at the Penn State Behrend Invitational.
