Body found on Strip District roof

A body was found on the roof of a Strip District building Monday, Pittsburgh public safety officials said.

Police were called to the 1300 block of Penn Avenue around 10:30 a.m. for reports of a body on a rooftop. Officers found a man, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Public safety officials said they did not feel the circumstances were immediately suspicious, and there were no obvious signs of trauma.

Violent Crime Unit detectives are investigating.

Firearms license operations moved for NFL Draft

The Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office on Monday announced it will relocate its Pennsylvania License to Carry Firearms operations out of Downtown during the 2026 NFL Draft.

The courthouse firearms office will be closed Thursday and Friday.

On Thursday, licenses will be available at the South Park police station on Brownsville Road from 8 a.m. until noon. On Friday, the services are available at the Ross Township Municipal Building on Ross Municipal Drive from 8 a.m. until noon.

Officials cited increased parking costs and challenges in finding parking as the reason for the changes.

Several large Downtown businesses have encouraged employees not to work from the office during the event, which officials expect to bring hundreds of thousands of people to Pittsburgh’s Downtown and North Shore.
