How far does President Trump have to stoop before his supporters realize just how bad he really is? How much longer can you defend his words and actions and still go to church with a clean conscience? On Easter weekend, he posts that he will wipe out an entire civilization of 93 million people if his arbitrary deadline is not met. Americans should pause and consider what those days of threatened annihilation were like for Iranians. What do you tell your children? Do you spend those days at home with your loved ones thinking you all will be dead soon? I can’t even imagine.
Less than a week later, he criticizes Pope Leo because Leo used his Easter message to pray for peace and criticize those who say Jesus supports the war. In response to the pope clarifying his message, Trump then posts a picture of himself as Christ healing someone. The sacrilege and blasphemy is just awful. Earlier this month, four churches held a rally at the courthouse and used the imagery of Christ blessing a kneeling Trump. I truly cannot comprehend the audacity of telling their parishioners that Christ is being channeled through Trump.
To any MAGA follower out there still supporting Trump, you can still be “America first.” You can maintain conservative values and still disagree with this current administration. You don’t have to be a Democrat to reject Trump. There are many of us out here who are Republicans, independents and moderate Democrats who want to bring sanity and decency back to the presidency. Our country depends on it.
