STATE COLLEGE — The final week of Penn State’s spring practice sessions is here.

Matt Campbell’s Nittany Lions will cap their spring work with a Blue-White “practice” on Saturday afternoon at Beaver Stadium.

Campbell, in his first year at Penn State after spending the 10 previous seasons as Iowa State’s head coach, is still getting to know his new players and his new coaches.

He was asked after Tuesday’s morning practice about his plan for Saturday’s Blue-White practice.

“First of all, we got into the stadium last week, which was huge,” Campbell said. “You go in there and you see the construction (renovation), you get a lot of guys who have never been in that stadium before. We were able to get a really great practice in.

“One of the neat things for our kids this time around (Saturday) is, you’re going to get to experience what this fan base feels like and how special this place really is.”

Campbell added: “We can’t waste a great practice. I think these are critical reps for our football team.

“I kinda see the first 20-25 minutes of what normal practice would look like — a team stretch, probably give ourselves a little bit of individual, inside run, a little bit of 7 on 7.

“Really, the bulk load of the rest of the day we’ll be driving (offense vs. defense).”

Campbell expects veteran starting quarterback Rocco Becht, who made 39 consecutive starts at ISU, to participate in 7 on 7 drills on Saturday.

Becht has been limited for much of the spring after undergoing shoulder surgery on his non-throwing (left) shoulder in December.

Becht also sprained his right shoulder during the 2025 season.
