There were four individual records set Monday at the Westmoreland County Coaches’ Association Track and Field Championships.
Latrobe junior Preston Miller broke his own record in the 100-meter dash. Other record-breakers were Franklin Regional junior Sean Cartwright in the 110 hurdles, Hempfield senior Jonathan Stetchock in the 1,600 and Hempfield senior Chesnee Smith in the 800.
Miller, Cartwright and Stetchock were three of eight double winners at Mt. Pleasant Stadium.
This was the 103rd boys championship and 46th girls championship.
Miller won the 100 and 200. The new 100 meet record is 10.55. He also had a personal record in the 200 and anchored the winning 400-meter relay team.
“I’m pleased,” Miller said. “I broke a couple records. I am in a good place heading to the final part of the season.”
Cartwright broke a record in the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.09 and won the high jump with a leap of 6 feet, 7 inches. He anchored the winning 1,600 relay team.
“What a great day,” Cartwright said. “I just missed clearing 6-9, and I am close to running under 40. I feel that goal is reachable now.”
Stetchock won the 1,600 and 3,200. The record was in the 1,600 in 4:17.68.
Smith’s record came in the 800, where she ran a 2:13.38.
“This has been a great week,” Smith said. “I set a personal record earlier this week, we defeated Norwin for the section title and I broke the county record.”

Derry senior Jeremiah Gess repeated as pole vault champion.
Greensburg Central Catholic senior Jerry Davis also repeated as he won the 400 for the third consecutive season.
“I am in a good spot,” Davis said. “I starting to prepare for the end of the season. Winning the county for the third time is nice, but I want the WPIAL and PIAA titles again.”
