Mitch Jebb
Position: OF
Height: 5-foot-11
Weight: 185 pounds
Level: Triple-A Indianapolis
Notable: Mitch Jebb got a promotion this week to Triple-A Indianapolis and has made quite a first impression. The Pirates’ No. 8 prospect had four hits, including two homers, with four RBIs on Thursday as the Indians beat St. Paul, 6-1, to improve to 9-15.
He stepped in for Jhostynxon Garcia, who is on the seven-day injured list with a lower back injury.
The speedy outfielder who came into the organization as a shortstop is hitting .258 this season with eight RBIs.
He has played three games in Triple-A after starting the season with Double-A Altoona.
After being drafted by the Pirates in the second round (42nd overall) in 2023, Jebb began his career with Low-A Bradenton that summer and moved to High-A Greensboro in 2024 and Altoona last season, when he batted .265 with 34 RBIs. He was a non-roster invitee to spring training, getting a chance to work out with the big-league club.
The soon-to-be 24-year-old Michigan State product has shown versatility by also playing shortstop, second base, left field and center field. A left-handed hitting prospect, he produces plenty of line-drive contact and is a plus runner who has stolen 92 bases in his minor-league career.
