Audrianna Baumgardner hit a walk-off two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth to lift North Hills to a 7-6 comeback victory over Plum in Section 1-5A softball Friday.
Lily Adamski hit two doubles and drove in a run and Natalie Anzaldi went 3 for 4 with a double and RBI for North Hills (7-6, 7-5). Lily Deluca went 3 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs for the Mustangs (10-4, 8-4), who scored twice in the top of the eighth.
Bentworth 4, Brownsville 2 – Makayla Gonglik went 2 for 3 with a triple and three RBIs, Alexa Babirad doubled and drove in a run and Sydney Gonglik hit two doubles for Bentworth (14-0, 8-0) in a Section 4-2A win. Blair Long singled and drove in a run for Brownsville (8-5, 6-4).
Blackhawk 8, Beaver 7 – Brynn Hysong hit a game-winning RBI groundout for Blackhawk (8-2, 8-1) in a Section 3-4A win. Addy Ramer homered and Ava Elich doubled and drove in three runs for the Cougars. Bridget Mayo went 3 for 4 with a double, home run and four RBIs for Beaver (6-7, 5-4).
Carmichaels 3, Jefferson-Morgan 1 – Carys McConnell went 2 for 3 with a triple and RBI and Kenlee Machesky singled and drove in two runs to lead Carmichaels (11-3, 8-1) to a Section 2-A win. Ava Wood went 2 for 3 with an RBI for Jefferson-Morgan (11-4, 7-2). Winning pitcher Bailey Barnyak struck out nine for the Mighty Mikes.
Ellwood City 3, Avonworth 1 – Kaylee Palombi hit a two-run single in the top of the seventh to score the winning runs for Ellwood City (5-4, 4-3) in a Section 2-3A win. Alexandra Eberhardt hit a home run for Avonworth (8-6, 5-3).
Fox Chapel 15, Mars 0 – Izzy Zober went 2 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs, Summer Burkhart went 3 for 4 with three RBIs and Guiliana Foley hit two doubles and drove in two runs to lead Fox Chapel (11-4, 8-4) to a Section 1-5A win. Jillian Haigh and Zober combined on a five-inning, two-hit shutout. Alyssa Foltz went 2 for 2 for Mars (2-12, 2-11).
Frazier 17, California 0 – Emma Travalena went 3 for 3 with a double and five RBIs, Morgan Fisher went 2 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs and Addison Hiles went 4 for 4 with two RBIs to lead Frazier (8-7, 6-4) to a Section 4-2A win. Hiles threw a four-inning one-hit shutout with seven strikeouts. Olivia Lenkey singled for California (0-14, 0-10).
Gateway 22, Penn Hills 4 – Taylor Magill went 3 for 4 with a double and five RBIs, Alex Brennan went 3 for 4 with a double and three RBIs and Brianna Banner tripled and drove in two runs for Gateway (6-8) in a nonsection win. Denni Strasser went 2 for 3 with two RBIs for Penn Hills (0-13).

Keystone Oaks 13, Deer Lakes 0 – Kailyn Brannon went 3 for 4 with a double and three RBIs and Nina Buckley went 3 for 4 with two RBIs for Keystone Oaks (12-4) in a nonsection win over Deer Lakes (7-7). Kennadi Smith threw four scoreless innings for the Golden Eagles, giving up one hit.

In the first game, Ashlee Masters threw a three-inning no-hitter and struck out five. Addy Moskal and Reagan Magno had a single, double and two RBIs apiece. In the second game, Lydia Cole doubled and drove in a run and Abby Donofrio threw a no-hitter and struck out five for the Warriors.
Mt. Lebanon 11, Butler 1 – Dani McClinchie went 2 for 2 with a home run and four RBIs, Rebecca Davis hit a double and home run and Lily Dwyer doubled and drove in two runs for Mt. Lebanon (4-11, 4-9) in a Section 1-6A win. Kyra Olivares hit two singles for Butler (1-14, 1-12).

Riverside 20, Freedom 0; Riverside 11, Freedom 3 – Riverside (8-4, 8-3) swept Freedom (2-9, 2-9) in a Section 1-2A doubleheader. In the first game, Ayla Sterner threw a three-inning perfect game and struck out eight. Addison Drake went 3 for 4 with two doubles and four RBIs and Ryleigh Clyde had two doubles and two RBIs for the Panthers. In the second game, Jocilene Cummings struck out 12 and had a double and two RBIs. Jordyn Moehrle went 2 for 3 with a triple and RBI and Alyssa Forest doubled and drove in a run for the Bulldogs.

Armstrong 9, North Catholic 6 – Winning pitcher Anderson Fabian went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs while Garrett Brumbaugh and Kaden Rupp each doubled as Armstrong (4-11) defeated North Catholic (4-7) in nonsection play. Matthew Curtis doubled twice and brought home two runs and Luca Guzowski finished with two RBIs for the Trojans.
Avonworth 4, DuBois 1 – Winning pitcher Jack Dolan went 2 for 4 with a pair of RBIs and Carson Franc drove in a run to lead Avonworth (12-5) to a nonsection win. Noah Farrell knocked in a run for DuBois.
Beaver 5, Mohawk 3 – Maddox Tanner went 2 for 3 with two solo home runs and Jackson Reese doubled to lead Beaver (10-4) to a nonsection win. Bobby Fadden doubled for Mohawk (11-3). Derek Hughes got the win and Tanner picked up a save for the Bobcats.
Belle Vernon 9, Mt. Pleasant 2 – Connor Bergman went 4 for 4 with three doubles and three RBIs to lead Belle Vernon (10-3) to a nonsection win. Chace Petrosky went 3 for 4 with a triple and two RBIs and Zach Plymire doubled and drove in a run for the Leopards. Dane Firmstone singled and drove in a run for Mt. Pleasant (10-6).
Carlynton 15, Bentworth 14 – Michael Jenkins singled and scored the game-winning run on an error to lift Carlynton (5-8) past Bentworth (3-10) in a nonsection tilt. Winning pitcher Isaac Anker went 5 for 7 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs and Noah Stiffler doubled and brought home two runs for the Cougars. Clint Havanis tripled and plated two runs and Azekial Malanosky doubled and drove in two for the Bearcats.
Ellwood City 7, Shenango 6 – Jordan Keller singled, doubled and drove in a run and Jake Biskup had a pair of RBIs for Ellwood City (13-2) in a nonsection win. Rick Zeigler singled and doubled and Dom Dando drove in two runs for Shenango (10-5).

Blaize Dias homered and brought home three runs for the Spartans. Landon Trnavsky doubled twice and knocked in four runs, Blake Merckle doubled and drove in two and Ryan Huey got the win for the Rangers.
Freeport 10, East Allegheny 0 – Luke Whitfield homered and knocked in three runs and Gavin Tola tripled as Freeport (13-0) blanked East Allegheny (0-13) in a nonsection matchup. Jeremy Coller got the win for the Yellowjackets.
Geibel Catholic 8, Mapletown 1 – Winning pitcher Zane Hixson went 3 for 4 with a triple, a double and three RBIs and Eahn Stevenson tripled, doubled and had two RBIs as Geibel Catholic crushed Mapletown (2-13) in nonsection play.
Hopewell 9, Serra Catholic 6 – Charles Smetana doubled twice and Collin Davis and James Armstrong each clubbed a double as Hopewell (10-4) earned a nonsection win. Max Black and Jake Anderson each drove in a run for Serra Catholic (8-6). Logan Armstrong went 2 for 3 with an RBI and Payton Korker got the win for the Vikings.
Kiski School 3, West Shamokin 2 – Winning pitcher Cy Zufall struck out eight in five innings and hit a two-run double to lead Kiski School (6-4). Tyler Faust struck out three in two scoreless innings to pick up the save, Parker Hannah singled and doubled and Tyler Hahn hit a sacrifice fly for Kiski.
Latrobe 5, Forest Hills 4 – Cole Short worked a walk with the bases loaded to guide Latrobe (13-2) to a win at the Altoona Curve Invitational. Short finished with three RBIs and Austin Slezak got the win for the Wildcats. Jeff Beyer went 2 for 3 with a pair of RBI for Forest Hills.
Latrobe 16, Juniata Valley – Cole Short doubled, tripled and drove in two runs and Noah Noel went 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs to lead Latrobe (13-2) at the Altoona Curve Invitational.
New Castle 12, Valley 1 – Dominic Miller went 2 for 3 with four RBIs, Kainen Lynch brought home a pair of runs and Braden Girman went 2 for 3 with an RBI as New Castle (9-6) rolled to a nonsection win. Nikolas Heakins doubled for Valley (12-4). Carlo DeSalvo got the win for the Hurricanes.
Norwin 13, Connellsville 3 – Ethan McMullen went 2 for 3 with a triple and three RBIs, Tristyn Tavares doubled twice and drove in a pair and Trevor Vitsas doubled and knocked in two runs as Norwin (10-5) clubbed Connellsville (6-10) in nonsection play. Keegan Lott doubled and drove in two runs for the Falcons. Dante Marino and Jakob Howard each doubled and plated a run for the Knights.

Shady Side Academy 7, Deer Lakes 2 – Ty McCaskey went 2 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs, Sam McComb was 3 for 3 with a home run and an RBI and winning pitcher Charlie Wanless plated two runs as Shady Side Academy (7-6) bested Deer Lakes (5-10) in a nonsection matchup. Jack Alcom knocked in a pair of runs for the Lancers.
Trinity 10, Thomas Jefferson 8 – Derek Falvo doubled twice and plated two runs while Owen Samogala and Timothy Crayton III each doubled and had two RBIs to lift Trinity (7-8) past Thomas Jefferson (11-4) in nonsection play. Justin Fry brought home two runs and Calvin Caterino doubled and drove in a run for the Jaguars. Landon Conn picked up the win for the Hillers.
Uniontown 12, Carmichaels 3 – Elim Martin drove in two runs while winning pitcher Lane Smiley and Ethan White each brought in a run to power Uniontown (6-8) to a nonsection win. Dominic Yazzani tripled and had an RBI for Carmichaels (5-8).
Waynesburg 12, Albert Gallatin 2 – Lucas Slifko doubled twice and drove in three runs, Austin Surber had a double and two RBIs and Jarett Tretinik had two hits and two RBIs to lead Waynesburg (5-9) to a nonsection win. Jeffrey Blair and Kory Taylor each doubled and drove in a run for the Raiders. Ben Lilley singled and drove in a run for Albert Gallatin (1-13).
Weir (WV) 5, Burgettstown 3 – Nico Glass doubled and knocked in a run to lead Weir to a nonsection win.
West Allegheny 11, Chartiers Valley 10 – Brysan Zirwas doubled and had three RBIs, Jack Sekelik went 4 for 4 with a double and drove in a pair and Kingston Henke doubled and plated a run to lead West Allegheny (9-5) to a nonsection win. Owen Weigraff tripled and drove in three runs while John Papariella, Jared Pryor and Nate Colberg each doubled and knocked in a run for Chartiers Valley (4-10).
Girls lacrosse
Pine-Richland 17, Peters Township 4 – Cate Gentile had six goals and three assists and Mallory Boivin added five goals and an assist to lead Pine-Richland to a nonsection win. Claire Mill had two goals and two assists, Meg Dzialowski also scored twice, Willow Cribbs added a goal and an assist and Leyton Carlson also scored for the Rams. Cara Murray made seven saves.
Track and field
Seneca Valley Invitational – The host Raiders dominated the field events with nine individual wins. On the girls side, Morgan Clay (shot), Addison Hartzell (discus), Addie Weaver (javelin), Kate Skeen (long jump), Jordan Monteleone (high jump) and Tennyson Voll (pole vault) took first. For the boys, Conner Gartner (discus), Ethan Holmes (javelin), Kyle Mancing (long jump) and the 3,200 relay team were winners. Seneca Valley also won the boys 3,200, girls 1,600 and girls 3,200 relays.
On the boys side, Pine-Richland had three wins with Samuel Beuse sweeping the hurdles and Noah Mendelovich winning the high jump. Beaver got wins from Bruce Sutter (400) and Brayden Cosky (800) and West Allegheny’s Matt Kukoyi (100) and Brennan Patterson (1,600) took first.
Other WPIAL winners were Deer Lakes’ Brayden McCoy (200), Montour’s Andrew Ludwick (3,200), West Mifflin’s Jose’ Perez (triple jump) and Ambridge in the 400 and Riverview in the 1,600 in the relays.
For the girls, Freeport’s Madison Sleppy won the 200 and 400 and West Allegheny’s Jaidalyn Williams swept the hurdles. Shaler got wins from Bella Filo (100), Octavia Dixon (triple jump) and the 400 relay team.
Other WPIAL winners were West Allegheny’s Camryn Bruno (3,200), Montour’s Tiffany Miller (800) and Mars’ Monica Grunden (1,600).
