Tidbits: Rubio’s father, Angel, was drafted by the Steelers in the seventh round of the 1998 draft as a defensive lineman out of Southeast Missouri State. Angel Rubio, who went 221st overall, did not appear in a regular-season game for the Steelers and was limited to two career NFL games overall. … Gabriel missed the final six games of his final college season because of an arm injury. … Spent five seasons at Notre Dame, redshirting as a freshman in 2021. … Rubio was graded as a four-star incoming recruiting prospect by 247 and Rivals and was rated as a top-10 national defensive tackle by both outlets. … Rubio started five of his six games played in 2025 and three of 11 in 2024. … His first three career starts were in the 2024 season’s College Football Playoff quarterfinals, semifinals and championship game.
