The host Lions took first place in six individual events and one relay to run away with the girls team title at the South Fayette Invitational on Saturday.

Angela Zeng was a double winner, taking the 800 and 3,200. Delaney Schumaker also won twice, claiming the 400 and 100 hurdles. Lauren Biernacki (javelin), Emi Baiano (pole vault) and the 1,600 relay team also won for the Lions.

Upper St. Clair’s Sadie Tomczyk swept the 100 and 200 and the Panthers won the 400 relay. Winchester Thurston also had three girls winners with Abigail Weinstein (1,600), DaShae Cochran (long jump) and Izabelle Bansah (shot put).

Other WPIAL winners were Sewickley Academy’s Claire Karsman (300 hurdles), Baldwin’s Becca Gruntz (triple jump), Chartiers-Houston’s Brooklyn Havelka (discus) and the OLSH 3,200 relay team.

Led by Logan Berry’s win in the long jump and the 400 and 1,600 relays, North Hills won the boys team title.

Double winners included North Catholic’s Jack Kandravy in the 100 and 200, Chartiers Valley’s Mason Switala in the discus and shot put and Hampton’s Chae Huber in the 110 and 300 hurdles.

Upper St. Clair got wins from Carter Kashak in the 800 and Nolan Sarkett in the 1,600. Baldwin got first-place finishes from Alex Castaneda in the 3,200 and the 3,200 relay team.

Other WPIAL winners were North Catholic’s Logan Schade (400), Highlands’ Jahmar Wright (high jump), Gateway’s Daysaun Spencer (triple jump), Our Lady of the Sacred Heart’s Owen Wasko (javelin) and Central Valley’s Jackson Super (pole vault).

Baseball

Laurel Highlands 4, Ligonier Valley 2 – Aiden Milson went 2 for 3 with two RBIs as Laurel Highlands (4-9) defeated Ligonier Valley (6-7) in nonsection play. Sevi Vecchiolla and Nick Crouch also had two hits for Laurel Highlands. Austin Harr went 2 for 3 and scored both Ligonier Valley runs.

Softball

Elizabeth Forward 13, Neshannock 0 – Hannah Evans went 2 for 3 and drove in five runs as Elizabeth Forward (14-1) scored 12 runs in the first inning in its five-inning, nonsection win over Neshannock (9-5). Julia Resnick went 2 for 2 with two RBIs and two runs scored while Addy Nigut and Aubri Cimba had two RBIs each.

Union 10, Wilmington 0 – Korynne Shannon threw five no-hit innings, striking out 10 and walking three, as Union (12-1) shut out Wilmington in a nonsection game. Irelyn Fisher went 2 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs. Olivia Benedict added a solo home run while Olivia Williams and Emily Ross drove in two runs each.

Flag football

Latrobe 53, Propel Braddock Hills 20 – Natalia Scekeres threw six touchdown passes – three to Morgan Maiers, two to Maggie Maiers and one to Mya Wisniewski – to lead Latrobe to a Section 3 win. Wisniewski and Jules Bulebosh had rushing touchdowns for the Wildcats.
