Teams on the road to the WPIAL boys volleyball playoffs have just two more weeks to qualify or strengthen their resumes before the tournaments begin May 12.
The stretch run starts Monday and Tuesday evening, and the Western Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association kicked off the journey Monday morning with the release of the Week 7 top 10 polls.
Section 3 continues to dominate the Class 3A rankings with North Allegheny, Butler, Seneca Valley and Pine-Richland in spots one through four, respectively.
Section 1 leader Baldwin (10-2, 6-0) is at No. 5, followed by Mt. Lebanon, Penn-Trafford, Upper St. Clair, Norwin and Hempfield.
Shaler remains at No. 1 in Class 2A, a spot it has held since the preseason.
Seton LaSalle, South Fayette, Thomas Jefferson and Our Lady of the Sacred Heart round out the top five.
Trinity is up one to No. 6, while Montour made the biggest jump this week from No. 10 to No. 7.
The rest of the top 10 has Hopewell at No. 8, Derry at No. 9, and Ambridge re-entering the poll at No. 10.
Each week throughout the season, all 45 boys volleyball head coaches have the opportunity to cast a ballot for the top-10 rankings and also nominate players for each classification’s players of the week.
