One of two men convicted of burglarizing a New Kensington gun store in 2024 has been arrested again.

Arnold police arrested Steyn Sarduy, 20, of Springdale after he fled from a traffic stop April 19, police Chief Rob Haus said.

Sarduy took a plea deal in December 2024 for his part in the burglary of RC Firearms, then on Freeport Street, in January that year.

He was sentenced in March 2025 to 2½ years in federal prison. He was free on probation, according to the district attorney, with court records stating he has three years of probation remaining.

Sarduy and another man, Michael Guin, used a stolen pickup as a battering ram to break into the gun store in 2024. Guin was sentenced to 20 months in federal prison.

According to a criminal complaint, Sarduy was driving a stolen car on April 19 when Arnold police tried to pull him over in front of the Denny’s on Tarentum Bridge Road for a non-working tail light and speeding.

Sarduy did not stop and continued out of the parking lot onto Campbell Avenue, where he jumped out of the moving vehicle and ran toward a house on the street, according to the complaint.

A passenger then climbed into the driver’s seat and put the car in park, the complaint said.

Police identified the vehicle as stolen by speaking with the owner listed on its registration.

Two passengers in the vehicle helped police identify Sarduy using his Facebook profile, according to the complaint. The passengers told police Sarduy was wearing a mask and rubber gloves.

While police searched the area, Sarduy ran from a yard and got into an Uber which officers surrounded to make the arrest, according to a statement posted by Arnold Police on their Facebook page.

Sarduy is charged with felony counts of fleeing or attempting to elude police and receiving stolen property; misdemeanor counts of fleeing, evading arrest or detention on foot, and reckless endangerment; and summary traffic offenses.

Sarduy was denied bail and is being held in the Westmoreland County jail , according to court records. His preliminary hearing before District Judge Frank J. Pallone Jr. is scheduled for Thursday.

Court documents do not currently list a defense attorney for Sarduy.
