A woman was taken by medical helicopter to a hospital last week after being hit by a vehicle while using Hempfield’s Woodward Drive Walking Track, according to township manager Aaron Siko.
State police were called around 2:30 p.m. April 22. The collision happened in a gap where vehicles can cross the track outside the township building, Siko said. There is a crosswalk at the gap.
The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Siko said it remains under investigation by state police.
“The incident that occurred did not involve any township vehicles or equipment,” he said.
No information had been released by troopers as of Tuesday morning.
The track is a .82-mile paved loop along Woodward Drive with interactive signs. It is separated from Woodward Drive traffic by a guide rail.
