A man was in critical condition Wednesday morning after being struck by a tow truck in Pittsburgh.
The truck was towing a vehicle in the 2000 block of Wharton Street in the city’s South Side neighborhood around 7 a.m. when the man ran in front of it and tripped, Eliza Durham, a police spokeswoman, said.
Paramedics transported the man to an area hospital with head and arm injuries.
The tow truck driver, who police also have not named, remained on the scene, Durham said.
A strip mall — which includes a Giant Eagle supermarket, an Advance Auto Parts location and a liquor store — is on the block where the incident occurred.
