This was not a good week to be at the top in high school baseball.
Heavy was the bull’s-eye for top-ranked teams as four of the six No. 1 teams from the Trib HSSN state rankings a week ago slipped down, or in one case, completely out of the Top 5 this week.
Spring-Ford in 6A, DuBois in 5A, Pope John Paul II in 4A and Halifax in 2A turned over the No. 1 reigns to LaSalle College in 6A, Upper Moreland in 5A, Northern Lebanon in 4A and Faith Christian in 2A.
The two lone survivors at the top were Mount Carmel in 3A and Southern Fulton in A.
Overall, only four teams lost their footing and dropped out of the state rankings, including Spring-Ford and Chambersburg in 6A, Lampeter-Strasburg in 5A and South Park in 3A.
