Losing to the Philadelphia Flyers always makes Pittsburgh fans mad. Losing in the playoffs makes Pittsburgh fans irate. Losing in the playoffs to the Flyers makes all of Pittsburgh enraged.

That’s what happened Wednesday night, and it doesn’t appear that we are handling it well.

At least everyone in the city was thrilled with how the Steelers managed the NFL Draft … right?

Here’s this week’s “U mad, bro?”

That was a bitter, painful loss to the Flyers in overtime Wednesday night. Let’s delicately wade our way into a discussion about the Penguins, starting with “Gooseheimer2023.”

Talk to me, Goose!

Never mind.

Maybe “Theoacer1” will have a more restrained take.

OK, 0-for-2.

But, yeah. We can’t escape that truth. Still no playoff-round wins here since 2018. It hurts.

I will say, though, “overpaid?” The Penguins ended the season with the fourth-most cap space in the league. Overspending wasn’t their problem.

Calvin has some thoughts on the Penguins’ 1-0 loss too.

Tommy Novak is overextended as a second-line center. Evgeni Malkin is 39. And Egor Chinakhov needs to learn to score in the playoffs, not just during the regular season.

That’s what happened.

But your point is fair. No points for Malkin over the last three games. Novak didn’t score the whole series. Chinakhov didn’t have a single point and was minus-4. How does a guy like that only total eight shots in six games?

Gotta agree there. I’m sure he was gassed, and his head was swimming on the icing. But I thought the same thing you did.

Then, yes, he was beaten on the faceoff and lost nine of 13 on the night. He was only 18-for-52 for the series.

Let’s get to the NFL Draft. This guy didn’t like my characterization of the Steelers’ selecting Mt. Lebanon’s Eli Heidenreich (Navy) in the seventh round.

Garrett Nussmeier?! So you wanted them to draft a third quarterback over the last two years? How many are going to dress on game days? Which one is covering kicks on special teams?

If you like Nussmeier, take him instead of Allar. Not four rounds after him in the same draft.

What’s the Steelers’ offense going to be? The triple option with three quarterbacks?

KMan thinks I was a little too dismissive of the Steelers drafting Drew Allar.

You got me, KMan. You are right. They “should of.”

This person didn’t like the headline on my draft wrap-up column: “Steelers’ draft approach doesn’t mesh with attempts to retain Aaron Rodgers”

I dunno where he might go. But they just put that unrestricted free agent tag on him. So what word would you use? I think “retain” is pretty accurate.

Chancellor Pink appears dubious of a quote I passed along after interviewing Steelers fourth-round pick Kaden Wetjen.

Source? My ears.

Finally, “Panther Pride Mike” didn’t like the Steelers’ first-round draft choice, Arizona State tackle Max Iheanachor.

Yeah. It probably would’ve been smarter to take somebody from Pitt in the first round again. That could’ve solved everything. It worked out great last time.
