Talk about out of bounds! Although I’m not a sports fan, I find it infuriating that the city of Pittsburgh has bent over backwards for everyone other than the medical community.

Yes, this NFL Draft was an overwhelming economical boost and gained the city and businesses recognition, but folks with medical needs within city hospitals were kicked to the curb.

Plan ahead? That would have been great if you could pick a date to get sick, stay in town, unaffordable and unavailable, and use public transportation. PRT told us, “Don’t drive, ride with us.” Great — can you make a quick stop at the hospital along the way?

Folks have needs, like chemotherapy, dialysis, medical procedures, and what were we to do? Set up camp in the hospital hallway, pitch a tent in the parking lot? Pretend we have no needs for a week?

Pittsburgh is a major hub for medical facilities and state-of-the-art procedures and staff, so why not address them with the same high standards as NFL players? Yes, silly me for scheduling a procedure prior to the draft, although minor in comparison to those who critically need medical attention.

Believe it or not, the world does not completely revolve around sports.
