Pittsburgh Penguins coach Dan Muse was named a finalist for the Jack Adams Award, which is presented to “the coach adjudged to have contributed the most to his team’s success.”
The NHL announced the finalists Friday.
In his first year with the Penguins, Muse guided a Penguins team that entered the 2025-26 season with limited expectations — externally — to a 41-25-16 record and 98 points, figures that allowed it to finish in second place of the Metropolitan Division while also qualifying for the playoffs for the first time since 2022.
Jon Cooper of the Tampa Bay Lightning and Lindy Ruff of the Buffalo Sabres also were named finalists Friday.
Dan Bylsma (2011-12) is the only Penguins coach who has won the award.
The winner will be named near the conclusion of the 2026 Stanley Cup playoffs.
