The WPIAL will punctuate its newest sport with a postseason tournament.

The first WPIAL girls flag football playoff bracket is set.

Sixteen teams will open play Tuesday at four “regional” sites — North Allegheny, Mt. Lebanon, Gateway and Montour.

Those sites will host first round and quarterfinal games.

The top four teams from four sections qualified for the postseason. Section opponents will play each other in the first two rounds with the first-place team playing the fourth-place team, and second taking on third. The winners meet in the quarterfinals.

The semifinals and championship will be played Thursday at Upper St. Clair’s Panther Stadium.
