Franklin Regional’s Sean Cartwright and Quaker Valley’s Jonah Montagnese were among the record-breakers at the Pine-Richland Invitational on Friday.

Cartwright broke a 20-year-old meet record with a time of 14.11 seconds in the 110 hurdles and also won the high jump (6-7). Montagnese broke a meet record with a time of 4:10.77 in the 1,600 meters and also won the 800 and two-mile run.

Greensburg Central Catholic’s Jerry Davis in the 400 (49.19), the Butler 3,200 relay (7:58.77) and North Catholic’s Jack Steineman in the two-mile run (9:26.61) also set meet records.

Other boys winners from the WPIAL were Savian Baptiste of Avonworth/Northgate (200), Steineman (3,200), the Moon 1,600 relay team of Samuel Herrera, Jared Moyer, Marcus McGill, Evan Senkevich, Jaden McCray of Apollo-Ridge (javelin), Augustin Hickenboth of Freedom (long Jump), Sloan Humphries of Plum (triple jump) and Butler’s Jason Wick (pole vault).

On the girls side, Moon had a big day. Rachel Stepp won the 200 and 400, Alena Taylor won the 300 hurdles and they teamed with Sonya Taylor and Maria Depner to win the 1,600 relay.

Quaker Valley’s Lucy Montagnese won the 3,200 and two-mile run and Mia Gartley finished first in the 800. Fox Chapel got wins from Claire Conti in the discus and the 3,200 relay team of Claire Loiudice, Sydney Kimmons, Bridget Hemingray and Ella Shevchuk.

North Catholic’s Audra Lazzara won the 100 hurdles and teamed with Callie Kandravy, Anna Lazzara and Madelyn Primer to win the 400 relay. Southmoreland’s Megan Mehall won the 1,600 and mile run. Shaler’s Bella Filo won the 100 and teammate Jayla Antomachi was tops in the javelin.

Franklin Regional’s Jamie Kociela won the high jump.

Baseball

Brashear 16, Sto-Rox 1 – True Crawford went 2 for 2 with a double and four RBIs and Michael Caskey doubled and drove in two runs for Brashear (6-6) in a nonsection win over Sto-Rox (0-15).

Central Catholic 9, North Catholic 5 – CJ Proch had a single, home run and two RBIs and Landon Greene went 2 for 2 with a double and two RBIs to lead Central Catholic (9-10) to a nonsection win. Landon Eifler and Luca Guzowski homered for North Catholic (4-11).

Eden Christian 5, Quaker Valley 2 – Noah Emswiler struck out 10 and allowed two hits in 6⅓ innings for Eden Christian (12-4) in a nonsection win. Todd Kagle had a double and triple for Quaker Valley (8-7).

Greensburg Central Catholic 9, Southmoreland 3 – Carson Kramer went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and Nolan Sopko went 2 for 3 with a double to lead Greensburg Central Catholic (12-0) to a nonsection win. Cooper Kaylor doubled and drove in two runs for Southmoreland (1-16).

Jefferson-Morgan 10, Beth-Center 2 – John Woodward went 2 for 3 with five RBIs, Evan Kniha went 2 for 4 with a double and four RBIs and Deakyn Dehoet went 3 for 4 with an RBI for Jefferson-Morgan (10-7) in a nonsection win. Jax Taylor and Lorenzo Brown had a single and RBI apiece for Beth-Center (1-14).

Ligonier Valley 12, Apollo-Ridge 0 – Levi Moser threw five scoreless innings, allowing two hits and striking out seven, to lead Ligonier Valley (9-8) to a nonsection win over Apollo-Ridge (9-7). Jake Petalino went 3 for 3 with a triple and four RBIs, Miles Smith went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs and Gavin Moore went 2 for 2 with a double and RBI for the Rams.

Mapletown 3, Monessen 2 – Taylor Moore hit a walk-off RBI single in the eighth for Mapletown (3-15) in a nonsection win. Ashton Walker had a single and two RBIs for the Maples. Mason Reeves hit a game-tying RBI single in the seventh for Monessen (0-17).

Plum 10, Gateway 0 – Gregory Huff, Joe Verzinskie and Andrew Muraco combined on a six-inning one-hit shutout in a nonsection win for Plum (15-2). Connor Wilson went 2 for 4 with two RBIs and Timmy Ruggiero tripled and drove in a run for the Mustangs. Joe Cheripka had the lone hit for Gateway (4-15).

Trinity 11, Waynesburg 1 – Jonah Williamson hit a three-run homer, Aarin Harshman had a double, triple and two RBIs and Karson Hathaway singled, doubled and drove in two runs to lead Trinity (8-10) to a nonsection win. Kory Taylor doubled and drove in a run for Waynesburg (6-11). Winning pitcher Luke Poland allowed one hit and struck out seven in three innings for the Hillers.

Uniontown 7, Brownsville 6 – Chandler Myers had a single, home run and two RBIs and Jamison Carter singled and drove in two runs to lead Uniontown (9-7) to a nonsection win. Elijah Patterson went 3 for 4 with a double and RBI for Brownsville (3-13).

Softball

Blackhawk 26, Western Beaver 5 – Ava Elich had two doubles and two RBIs, Chloe Franitti doubled and drove in two runs and Kylie Prisuta had a single and two RBIs for Blackhawk (10-2, 10-1) in a Section 3-4A win. Olivia Leahey singled and drove in two runs for Western Beaver (5-8, 3-7).

Carmichaels 6, Brownsville 0 – Bailey Barnyak threw a complete-game two-hitter and struck out 13 to lead Carmichaels (13-3) to a nonsection win. Carys McConnell hit a home run and Joselyn Carter tripled for the Mighty Mikes. Jordyn Davis hit two singles for Brownsville (9-6).

Elizabeth forward 7, Bentworth 4 – Julia Renisck had two home runs and four RBIs, Samantha Malek went 3 for 3 with a double and Berlyn Holibaigh had two singles and two RBIs to lead Elizabeth Forward (15-1) to a nonsection win. Sydney Gonglik went 2 for 2 with a double and home run and Makayla Gonglik had a single, triple and two RBIs for Bentworth (16-1).

Gateway 15, Carrick 0 – Savannah Boden went 2 for 3 with a double and five RBIs and Malia Clemens had an RBI triple for Gateway (7-9) in a nonsection win over Carrick (1-1). Winning pitcher Brianna Banner threw a three-inning no-hitter with five strikeouts.

Jeannette 5, South Allegheny 3 – Grace Stein had a double, home run and two RBIs, Peyton Pitzer singled, doubled and drove in two runs and Abigail Shaw tripled and drove in a run for Jeannette (9-3) in a nonsection win. Jordyn Stetor went 2 for 4 with a home run for South Allegheny (11-7).

Mt. Lebanon 18, Bethel Park 8 – Rebecca Davis went 5 for 5 with a double, home run and five RBIs, Dani McClinchie doubled and drove in two runs and Sarah Stroh homered for Mt. Lebanon (6-11) in a nonsection win. Ellery Stipp went 2 for 3 with two RBIs for Bethel Park (4-14).

Sewickley Academy 9, Quaker Valley 0 – Charlotte Andrews threw a six-inning two-hitter with 17 strikeouts for Sewickley Academy (9-3) in a nonsection win over Quaker Valley (2-11). Cherish Wilson went 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs and Keira Church had two singles and an RBI for the Panthers.

Thomas Jefferson 9, Belle Vernon 0 – Zoie DeCostro went 3 for 3 with a triple, home run and four RBIs, Madden Stanek had a single, home run and three RBIs nd Adalina Bracco doubled and drove in a run for Thomas Jefferson (14-2) in a nonsection win. Brooke Hugland and Leighton Schwab singled for Belle Vernon (8-11). Winning pitcher Aubrey Schaffer struck out 13 and allowed two hits in seven innings for the Jaguars.

Boys lacrosse

Mars 13, Sewickley Academy 9 – Grant Weaver had five goals and two assists, Jack Tirch finished with four goals and three assists, Connor Long scored three goals and Nate Caldwell added one as MArs won in Section 2-2A.

Girls lacrosse

Mars 16, Mt. Lebanon 7 – Hailey Long scored five goals and Katie Blake and Anna McGrath added three apiece to lead Mars to a nonsection win. Lola Seideneck and Tess McGrath each scored twice and Lucy Balazs also had a goal for the Fightin’ Planets.

Flag football

Uniontown 38, California 7 – Lyric McLee threw for 201 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 121 yards and another score to lead Uniontown to a Section 2 win. Aierra Jenkins had seven catches for 110 yards and two TDs and ran three times for 46 yards and a score. Imari Wilso ran for 113 yards and a touchdown and Lannie Uluiakeba had four catches for 75 yards and a TD for the Red Raiders.
