WPIAL clinched: Boys volleyball playoff qualifiers, scenarios through May 3, 2026

The 2026 WPIAL boys volleyball regular season is down to the final week, and the district postseason field sits at 19 teams.

The top three teams in each section qualify for the WPIAL playoffs.

If ties of two or more teams for a playoff berth cannot be broken by head-to-head tiebreaker, then all of the tied teams clinch.

Here is the latest list of teams that qualified for the playoffs and the playoff picture for the remaining postseason berths through Sunday.

Class 3A: 9 of a possible 14 teams have clinched a playoff berth

Section 1

*North Allegheny Tigers

Butler Golden Tornado

Seneca Valley Raiders

Section 2

Gateway Gators

North Hills Indians

Fox Chapel, Central Catholic and Plum are alive, but must win their final two section matches and have Fox Chapel lose its final two contests. Fox Chapel (5-3) is at Central Catholic and home to Gateway (6-1). Central Catholic is home to Fox Chapel and at Penn Hills (0-7), and Plum is at Gateway and home to North Hills (6-2). If all three teams finish 5-5, only Central Catholic qualifies due to head-to-head tiebreaker against the other two. If Fox Chapel ties with only Central Catholic or Plum, both teams qualify.

Section 4

*Baldwin Highlanders

Mt. Lebanon (5-3), Peters Township (5-3) and Upper St. Clair (4-4) are alive for at least two playoff berths. The Blue Devils host Peters Township then visit Upper St. Clair. The Indians visit Mt. Lebanon and are home to Baldwin (8-0) and the Panthers travel to Canon-McMillan (2-6) and host Mt. Lebanon.

Class 2A: 10 of a possible 15 teams have clinched a playoff berth

North Catholic Trojans

Beaver County Christian Eagles

Section 2

Derry Trojans

Deer Lakes Lancers

Steel Valley Ironmen

Section 3

Section 4

*South Fayette Lions

Trinity (5-3), Our Lady of the Sacred Heart (4-4), Montour (3-4) and Hopewell (3-5) are all alive for at least two playoff berths. The Hillers are at Montour and home to OLSH. The Chargers host South Fayette (7-0) then visit Trinity. The Spartans host South Fayette, are home to Trinity and then at Hopewell. The Vikings travel to Ambridge (1-7) and then are home to Montour.
