The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified a 38-year-old man as the victim fatally shot last month in Pittsburgh’s Hill District.
Pittsburgh police said officers were dispatched around 2:30 a.m. April 18 to the 2500 block of Chauncey Drive in the Bedford Dwellings housing development. The gunshot detection system ShotSpotter had reported a round of gunfire nearby.
Officers found a man — later identified as Lorenzo Davis — unresponsive and on the ground in a courtyard, police said. Paramedics rushed him to an area hospital, where he died 40 minutes after the shooting.
The medical examiner did not say where Davis was from.
A police spokeswoman did not return phone calls or emails Monday seeking comment.
Police said they detained one man for questioning. The man was wounded after a bullet grazed the left side of this face.
Investigators did not release his identity.
Another man showed up at an area hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg, police said. He said he was struck by a stray bullet in the 2400 block of Webster Avenue, near Chauncey Drive.
Police said it is unclear if the two incidents are linked.
