A jury has found a North Versailles man guilty for fatally shooting a 44-year-old man in Pittsburgh’s East Hills neighborhood.

Jerome Thompson, 45, was convicted Thursday of second-degree murder in the killing last year of Conrad Rozier, court records show.

The jury also found Thompson guilty of conspiracy to commit murder, conspiracy to commit robbery, robbery and a gun count.

His sentencing is set for July 16 in front of Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge Edward J. Borkowski.

Pittsburgh police said four officers were dispatched to the 2300 block of East Hills Drive around 8:30 a.m. on Feb. 18, 2025. Someone called 911 to report that a man had been shot and robbed.

The responding officers found Rozier holding his cell phone after he had been shot in the chest, according to a criminal complaint. Multiple shell casings from at least two guns were found nearby.

First responders rushed Rozier to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, where he initially was listed in critical condition, according to police. Rozier could not describe his attacker, police said at the time of the shooting.

Rozier died at the hospital less than an hour after being shot, the complaint said. He was one of three men killed last year in the same block, online records show.

Seconds before the 911 call came in about Rozier, two people left the shooting scene in a Ford Explorer, the complaint said.

Surveillance footage showed the same vehicle had parked near the victim’s apartment around 3 a.m. — more than five hours earlier, according to police. Numerous people were seen on video entering and leaving Rozier’s apartment at that time, the complaint said.

Officers said they later learned that the Ford Explorer’s Pennsylvania license plates were registered to Thompson. License plate readers and cellphone records showed the vehicle drove three hours up Interstate 79 to Erie after the shooting, the complaint said.

Police said they also interviewed a witness they found through information in Thompson’s phone. That witness later identified Thompson in a photo lineup and surveillance footage taken within an hour of the shooting.

Attorney Jeffrey Weinberg, who represented Thompson, did not return a phone call Monday seeking comment.
