Up for sale

Sewickley Heights council voted on April 20 to put several items up for sale on the government online auction Municibid.

Items are a 2021 Ford Explorer, a Kustom Signal SMART trailer and a Carlton Model 1790 woodchipper.

The auction is open through May 18.

Borough manager Nate Briggs said the goal is to get about $15,000 for the chipper, $10,000 for the Ford Explorer and $2,000 for the trailer.

The Lindsay Theater

Film Pittsburgh runs JFilm, and The Lindsay has also partnered with them on an exclusive screening of the Canadian comedy “Two Women” at 7:30 p.m. May 12. It’s a free screening, and the first time the theater has worked with Film Pittsburgh on one of their word-of-mouth screenings.

Folks can RSVP now for Cobblestoned, the next Emerging Filmmakers Showcase, on Thursday, May 14; and tickets are on sale for a special Dinner at Eight screening with the Pittsburgh Classic Movie Club on Sunday, May 31, at 1 p.m.

Leet vacancies

Leet has several vacancies that need filled.

They are a six-year term on the Civil Service Commission, a six-year alternate seat on the Civil Service Commission and a five-year seat on the Quaker Valley Ambulance Board.

• Bell Acres council will meet at 6 p.m. May 11 at Big Sewickley Creek Fire Hall, 1850 Big Sewickley Creek Road.

• Leet commissioners will meet at 7 p.m. May 11 at the township building, 194 Ambridge Ave.

• Sewickley Hills council will meet at 7:30 p.m. May 12 at the borough building, 329 Magee Road.

• Sewickley council will meet at 6:30 p.m. May 12 at the borough building, 601 Thorn St.

• Leetsdale council will meet at 7 p.m. May 14 at the borough building, 373 Beaver St.

Library event

Sewickley Community Library will host Tiny Club, a teen arts and crafts event, from 3:30-4:30 p.m. May 13 at 500 Thorn St.

Each session features a different combination of tiny crafts, snacks, games and more.

Registration is not required. The free program is open to all students in grades 6-12.

Open house

Aleppo Township Volunteer Fire Company will host an open house event at 131 Weber Road from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 30.

People will be able to meet local firefighters, check out trucks and equipment, learn important fire safety tips and enjoy a family-friendly atmosphere.

Sewickley Area Mothers Club family field day

SAMC will host an all-ages Family Field Day on May 17 from 3-5 p.m. at Sewickley Academy’s Wardrop Field. Have fun in the sun with Coach Dave, touch-a-truck, food trucks and more. This event is open to the public for a suggested charitable donation of $5 per child 2 years and older.

SAMC is a 501(c)7 that builds connections among local women and their families. Whether you are a new mom, a mom to young children, or simply new to the area, our organization is here to help! The friendships we make are real — we are truly moms who care.

Through same-age play dates, holiday parties, and mom’s nights out, SAMC enriches the lives of our members, their families, and the community at large. Pedal with Police

Quaker Valley School District will host its annual Pedal with Police event May 9. Registration is open but not required. People can sign up the day of the free event.

Participants will meet at Osborne Elementary at 9 a.m. for sign-in. Riders at 10 a.m. will travel down Beaver Street to Edgeworth Elementary for a bike rodeo complete with an obstacle course, safety lessons from local police and free bike inspections from Pittsburgh bike shop Pro Bikes.

Other activities include face painting, raffles and food.

Edgeworth and Osborne Home School associations made donations for bike raffles.

Guest deejay Edgeworth Police Lt. Bill Och will provide music.

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sewickley will provide hot dogs. The Rev. Ryan Kobert will do a blessing of the bikes prior to the ride.

Leetsdale 4th of July

The Leetsdale 4th of July committee is looking for parade participants. Create a float, decorate your bike or just create a theme and walk. Join the historic 250th anniversary celebration of the United States on Saturday, July 4, and continue a tradition that dates back to 1943 in the borough.

AUP inviting singles 50-plus to join

The Association of University People invites singles 50 and older, who are four-year college graduates, to join them for activities and to meet new people.

Activities to name a few are happy hour, brunches, lunches, dinners, meet-ups at music venues, a nontraditional book group, day trips and Scrabble.

Those interested can attend three activities as guests before joining.

SMC Club

SMC Club, an affiliate of the Sewickley Valley YMCA, will feature Lindsay Dill of the Allegheny Land Trust, who will speak on May 18, and the May 15 meeting will feature Tuesday Music Group. 21st Colosimo golf outing

The 21st annual Anthony Colosimo Memorial Golf Outing is set for June 5 at the Beaver Valley Golf Club, 725 Sixth Ave. in Patterson Heights, Beaver Falls.

The cost is $150 per golfer until June 1. Golfer fees paid after June 1 will increase to $175. Those wishing to sign up as a foursome must register by June 1.

Registration at the event starts at 8 a.m. Coffee and doughnuts will be served. A shotgun start is set for 9 a.m. followed by lunch at 2 p.m.

Sponsorship opportunities are available from a $100 tee or green sign to a $1,000 gold package that includes golf and lunch for four.

All proceeds benefit the Quaker Valley Rotary Foundation.
