Harrison police Chief Brian Turack touted an upcoming event in Harmar as a great way for senior citizens to connect with free and lesser-known resources.
Sponsored by Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen Zappala, the Senior Justice and Wellness Fest is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Pittsburgh Shrine Center.
Admission is free.
“There are a lot of resources for people,” Turack said. “It’s just a matter of connecting with them.”
Presentations will be given by a UAS Drone Operator, along with representatives from Project Lifesaver, a search-and-rescue program designed for at-risk people prone to wandering because of Alzheimer’s disease, autism or other conditions.
Project Lifesaver has helped rescue more than 4,500 people since it was founded.
There will be health screenings, prizes, food and live music. Turack said there will also be a prescription disposal booth offered.
Attendees can engage with service providers to learn ways to better well-being and protection from fraud, he said.
The Shrine Center is at 1877 Shriners Way.
