In a corresponding move, the Pirates recalled right-handed pitcher Cam Sanders from Triple-A Indianapolis. He was placed on the taxi squad Wednesday.
Sanders, 29, has made three appearances over three stints at the major league level this season, allowing four runs in three innings. He has struck out 17 batters in 8 2/3 innings at Indianapolis.
