Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Connor Clifton and forward Tommy Novak have been selected for the United States’ roster in the upcoming International Ice Hockey Federation’s (IIHF) World Championship tournament.

USA Hockey announced its roster Thursday. Chicago Blackhawks forward Sam Lafferty, a native of Hollidaysburg, was also selected.

Clifton, a native of Matawan, N.J., played in 50 games this season and posted six points (two goals, four assists) while averaging 16:46 of ice time per contest, largely as a third-pairing defenseman.

Novak, a native of St. Paul, Minn., who grew up in River Falls, Wisc., was the only member of the Penguins to appear in all 82 games this season and scored 42 points (16 goals, 16 assists). Primarily skating as either a center or left winger on the second and third lines, Novak averaged 14:17 of ice time per contest.

Lafferty played in 29 games this season and posted two points (one goal, one assist) while clocking an average of 8:36 of ice time per contest.

The IIHF World Championship tournament is scheduled to take place May 15 through 31 in Zurich and Fribourg, Switzerland.
