Ronny Simon
Position: OF
Height: 5-foot-8
Weight: 196 pounds
Level: Triple-A
Notable: Ronny Simon appears to be showing no remnants of the shoulder injury that ended his 2025 major-league stint just as it started.
An outfielder at Triple-A Indianapolis, Simon was named the Indians’ player of the month in April, when he was among the International League leaders in batting average (first, .388), hits (second, 33), OPS (second, 1.047), slugging percentage (third, .600), total bases (fourth, 51), RBIs (fifth, 21) and on-base percentage (fifth, .447) in 22 games.
The 26-year-old switch hitter is batting .355 this season with three homers and 24 RBIs, along with a .431 on-base percentage.
Simon made his MLB debut with Miami on April 21 last year and appeared in 19 games with the Marlins, slashing .234/.327/.277 with no homers, two doubles and seven RBIs over 47 at-bats. He has been with the Pirates organization for nearly a year after being claimed off waivers from the Marlins last June.
Simon had a couple of recalls to the major-league roster and was 7 for 30 with two RBIs and a stolen base in August but was shut down after suffering a dislocated left shoulder on a headfirst slide into home Aug. 29 against the Red Sox. He went on the 60-day injured list and missed the remainder of the season.
After being designated for assignment in November, he was non-tendered and became a free agent only to re-sign with the Bucs on a minor-league contract later that month.
An international free agent signing out of the Dominican Republic in 2018 by the Chicago Cubs, Simon also spent time in the minors with the Arizona Diamondbacks (2020) and Tampa Bay Rays (2021).
He has a career average of .272 with 76 homers and 347 RBIs over 641 games in the minor leagues.
