Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Parker Wotherspoon has been named to Canada’s roster for the upcoming International Ice Hockey Federation’s (IIHF) World Championship tournament.
Hockey Canada announced its roster Friday.
A native of Surrey, British Columbia, Wotherspoon set career highs this past season, appearing in 80 games and scoring 30 points (three goals, 27 assists) while averaging 20:10 of ice time per contest.
Wotherspoon joins Penguins president of hockey operations Kyle Dubas and assistant general manager Jason Spezza, who have undefined roles with Hockey Canada’s management group, as well as Penguins strength and conditioning coach Sean Young, who has the same role with Hockey Canada.
Penguins defenseman Connor Clifton and forward Tommy Novak were named to the United States’ roster on Thursday.
The IIHF World Championship tournament is scheduled to take place May 15 through 31 in Zurich and Fribourg, Switzerland.
