The 10th spring transfer jumped aboard for Pitt Friday afternoon in Syracuse big man Ibrahim Souare, who announced his commitment on Instagram.

His pledge came hours after the Panthers landed Division II Concord University (W.Va.) forward Kraig Gilbert.

Together, the two join guards Naithan George (Syracuse/Georgia Tech), Jonathan Powell (North Carolina/West Virginia), Jalil Bethea (Alabama/Miami), A’Lahn Sumler (Charleston Southern) and Colin Hawkins (Gardner-Webb) plus Georgia Tech big man Baye Ndongo, Mercer center Armani Mighty and forward Dominique Diamante (BYU/Washington) as Pitt’s near total roster retool approaches its conclusion.

Last year with the Orange, the 6-foot-9 Souare appeared in 29 games, all off the bench, averaging 0.9 points and 1.9 rebounds.

As a true freshman, Souare played for Georgia Tech, where he was a part-time starter (30 games played, 14 starts), contributing 2.8 points and 3.6 rebounds per game.

A native of Conarky, Guinea, Souare is a career 61% shooter from the field, but in both of his collegiate campaigns has averaged only 1.3 field goals per game with zero career 3-point attempts.
