The Pittsburgh Pirates placed outfielder Jake Mangum on the 10-day injured list Friday evening in advance of their road series vs. the San Francisco Giants.

In a corresponding move, first baseman/outfielder Nick Yorke was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis.

Mangum, 30, was set to start Thursday’s series finale in Arizona but was removed from the lineup shortly before first pitch due to left hamstring discomfort.

His placement on the injured list, retroactive to May 6, was listed as due to a left hamstring sprain.

Over 30 games with the Pirates, he was slashing .260/.333/.288 with no home runs and three RBIs.

Defensively, Mangum had seen action at all three outfield positions.

The 24-year-old Yorke was optioned to the Indians May 2.

Prior to that, he’d appeared in 23 games with the Pirates, batting .221 with a home run and six RBIs while seeing action primarily at third base, with a handful of games at right field and first base.

Yorke, who made the Pirates’ Opening Day roster, played in three games with the Indians before being recalled.
