Bill Csaszar of Murrysville will join the town’s municipal council.
“I’m excited to work with the council and for the people of Murrysville,” said Csaszar, 58, who made an unsuccessful run for Franklin Regional school board in the 2025 election. “When I saw the vacant position posted on the Murrysville website, I asked around, and a lot of people suggested that I put my name in the hat.”
Csaszar will replace former Councilman Eli Diacopoulos, who recently moved out of Murrysville. Csaszar’s term will run through December 2027. He was appointed in a unanimous vote Wednesday.
“I’m going to be learning a lot,” he said. “I’m not going to go in there with a full head of steam. I want to sit back and learn — they say it takes about a year for a new council member to really get acclimated.”
Csaszar, who works in the maintenance department at the Penn-Trafford School District, said he hopes to help bring more businesses into Murrysville.
“I’d like to see us grow. Business provides revenue for Murrysville,” he said. “And when the next election cycle comes around, I plan to run to keep this seat. I’m very excited, I think we have a great council.”
Mayor Dayne Dice was not present at council’s meeting and will administer the oath of office to Csaszar at council’s next meeting at 7 p.m. May 20 at the municipal building, 4100 Sardis Road.
