As two of the most successful sides in the USL Championship’s Eastern Conference over the past decade, any matchup between the Pittsburgh Riverhounds and Louisville FC is worthy of circling on the calendar.

This installment of the rivalry is one the Riverhounds will be more keen to remember.

Trevor Amann scored in the first half and Sam Bassett added on in the second half to lead the Riverhounds to a 2-0 road victory Saturday night.

With the win, the Riverhounds (4-4-1) moved into a five-way third-place tie in the conference standings and bounced back from a 1-0 loss to Phoenix last Saturday. Louisville (5-3-1) is second in the conference.

In the ninth minute, Robbie Mertz sent a free kick into the box. Lasse Kelp got a head on it outside the far post and Amann headed it into the net.

In the 52nd minute, Bassett got some room to operate at the top of the box and buried a long-range shot to make it 2-0.

Nico Campuzano made seven saves for the Riverhounds, who will return to action with a USL Cup matchup at Charlotte at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
