Jake Donesec is a member of the distinguished 100-100 club as a talented midfielder on the Sewickley Academy boys lacrosse team.
Donesec has been an offensive catalyst for the Panthers throughout his career.
At the beginning of May, the 5-foot-8, 175-pound junior had scored 107 goals and added 24 assists in 35 career games.
Sewickley stood in third place in Section 2-2A with a 6-2 record, tied with Quaker Valley (6-3) and a half-game ahead of Shaler (5-2).
“I think we had a really solid start to the season,” Donesec said. “We’ve been improving each game and starting to put everything together as a team. There’s still work to be done, but we’re moving in the right direction and gaining momentum.
“I just recently hit 100 points and 100 career goals and I’m hoping to continue to add more.”
Donesec, an all-section player, can be found on both sides of the ball in games from his short stick midfield position.
“I’ve competed at a high level throughout my lacrosse career, starting with Red Hots National, one of the top-ranked club team in the country during my middle school years,” Donesec said. “I now play for Hilltop Lacrosse, a top-three nationally ranked program made up of elite high school talent.
“As a short stick defensive midfielder on the team, I take pride in being a strong transition player and a consistent ground ball presence — doing the small things that help my team win — as well as being a great threat to score goals in transition.”
Sewickley was 10-4 overall and one of the top scoring teams in Class 2A at the beginning of May, averaging 14.3 goals per game while allowing 7.6 goals-against. South Fayette led the division, averaging 14.5 gpg.
The Panthers won six of eight decisions in the month of April.
“I’m really grateful for my teammates and coaches,” Donesec said. “They’ve played a huge role in helping me grow as a player and constantly push me to improve every day.
“Being a part of this program has meant a lot to me, and I’m excited to keep developing this season and am looking forward to seeing what we can do in the playoffs.”
